Areas of Work
Mercy Mission understands that in order to enable real change that has the potential to affect future generations, we need to make a positive impact at all levels of the Muslim community as well as in all areas of life. We have therefore structured our areas of work or ‘Portfolios’ to reflect some of the areas in which we intend to work or where we aim to work in partnership with existing organisations. The Portfolios broadly represent areas in which gaps have been identified or where we have been requested to support Muslim communities with issues such as interaction with wider society, educational performance, economic contribution to society and family relationships.
Our priority is to help Muslims live according to the true teachings of Islam, so that we can fulfil our obligations to our Creator as well as leading the betterment of humanity. We hope to do this by increasing piety, confidence, self-sufficiency and selflessness both within ourselves and our communities. Consequently, all products and services we launch in our Portfolios must be able to demonstrate how they help to deliver this.
A key area of our work and one that we believe is the foundation to effective change and meaningful social engagement is Education – both Islamic and non-Islamic. As a result, the Education Portfolio overlaps all of the other Portfolios (as illustrated in the model above). An example of the work carried out in this Portfolio is our flagship product AlKauthar, which provides high quality, tertiary level Islamic education in a unique intensive weekend format currently operating in 5 continents across the world masha’Allah.
